Merritt Kearns has worked in fire and emergency services for the last 24 years. “A career in the fire service allows me to help people in my community during their time of need,” he says. Dena Weiss has worked in law enforcement for the past 25 years, specializing in crime scene investigation. “Those who have a passion for the forensic investigation aspect of criminal justice are drawn to the job because we want to help the victims and their families find closure,” she says. Daniel Hahn is the Emergency Management Plans Chief with Santa Rosa County in Florida and a faculty member at AMU teaching emergency and disaster management courses. “The best part of my job is figuring out how to communicate with the public. Keith Graves has been a police officer for more than 28 years. “It’s imperative that every officer be the best he or she can be, so that citizens walk away with confidence in their government and their police departments,” he says. Mason Pooler has spent 17 years as a firefighter and paramedic. “Recently, we installed more than 350 smoke alarms in a neighborhood that has experienced the most fires in our city… Experiencing the gratitude of those families was amazing,” he says.
