Are Fire Services Headed Back to the Days of Insurance Markers and Fee-Based Services?

Today, the Murrieta, Calif. city council will be considering a plan to force residents to pay a subscription fee for emergency services. The proposed fee would cost $4 per month per household and residents who choose not pay the fee will have to pay for their emergency services out of pocket, according to this article. The reason? Money, of course, or rather the lack of it.

FBI Director Highlights Agency’s Priorities. Cyber Crime and Public-Private Partnerships Top the List.

On Thursday, March 22 I attended a meeting with FBI Director Robert Mueller and selected members of the private sector. Mueller is a former federal prosecutor who began his directorship just days before September 11, 2001 and recently had his 10-year term extended by President Obama.
